Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 6:00pm

About the Role




We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Advanced Word Formatting Technician

to support our legal teams across the firm. Based initially at our Preston head office for training, this role offers the flexibility of hybrid working once fully onboarded.


This position is perfect for someone with advanced Microsoft Word skills, a passion for precision, and the ability to create, format, and manage complex legal documents in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities




Accurately create and amend legal documents from handwritten mark-ups Transcribe correspondence and legal content using digital dictation Format complex tables, flowcharts, and presentations to a high professional standard Proofread documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper layout Use advanced Microsoft Word features such as:

+ Track Changes
+ Auto-numbering
+ Cross-referencing
+ Table of Contents
Compare documents using tools like CompareDocs Reformat and clean up documents to meet house style standards Troubleshoot and resolve document formatting issues Convert files between formats (e.g., PDF to Word) Transcribe video meetings and upload to BigHand for processing Compile court and tribunal e-bundles with full pagination, bookmarks, and hyperlinks

Skills & Experience Required




Advanced Microsoft Word and Office skills are essential

Minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute, with high accuracy Intermediate knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint Previous experience in a legal document production or formatting role is desirable (training will be provided) Meticulous attention to detail with a methodical approach to formatting Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload under pressure Positive, proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills Familiarity with BigHand, iManage, and/or Proclaim is advantageous
