We are looking for skilled and results oriented individuals who are motivated to help us build the National Wealth Fund into an industry-leading institution.
Job Purpose
Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Leeds office.
Salary: 60-70,000 and benefits

Job Purpose: The NWF's strategy team sits at the heart of the organisation, leading the overall strategic direction, shaping activity and driving delivery through corporate strategy. These roles will work closely with the Executive Committee, Board and teams across the business to lead and manage a portfolio of strategy work to ensure the investments and activity balance delivery across the NWF's triple bottom line: helping deliver the government's growth and clean energy missions, generating a return for the taxpayer and crowding in private capital. This is a key time to join a growing team as the NWF develops its first strategic plan.



There are likely to be opportunities to work across both overall business strategy and corporate strategy, as well as develop expertise on public financial institutions and role they play in supporting wider government missions and investment objectives. Exact responsibilities for successful applicants will depend on business need and the expertise of the individual and will be discussed with candidates.
Key Accountabilities:Strategic planning: Leading on elements of the NWF's overall strategy development, including the strategic plan, to identify trends, opportunities and strategic approaches, working closely with functions across the organisation, the Executive Committee and Board. Business planning: Leading on elements of the annual business planning and KPI-setting process, working closely with functions across the organisation. Implementation: Driving strategy implementation on cross-cutting issues - helping to inject challenge and innovation across the organisation, identifying issues, risks and opportunities and acting as a trouble shooter. Advisory: Providing strategic advice to the Executive Committee and Board on critical business decisions initiatives. Performance monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives. Stakeholder management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with functions across the organisation, the NWF's shareholder and other comparable institutions on strategy-related issues, to ensure activity is effectively delivering government ambitions and aligns with an ambitious and stretching strategic plan and business plan. Improvement and culture: Supporting wider work to establish an effective strategy function which is well integrated and influential across the NWF. Being flexible and agile to evolving team needs; using the latest technology to support strategy development; supporting other colleagues in the team where needed.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:Strategic thinking: Ability to help set the strategic direction, taking account of the organisation's vision, objectives and wider stakeholder interests - ideally in a relevant organisation such as (but not limited to) a government department, strategy consultancy, financial institution, infrastructure body. Problem-solving: Ability to drive work forward with a focus on delivery, making effective decisions when faced with incomplete information, and overcome barriers to progress. Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience of constructing communications to convey complex messages clearly and persuasively to senior internal and external audiences (for example: workshop facilitation). Organised: Well organised, motivated and able to work at pace, while prioritising across multiple responsibilities to deliver high quality outcomes. Analytical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and financial information to make informed decisions. Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external colleagues, influencing effectively, driving progress and providing constructive challenge. Flexible: Continuous drive for innovation and improvement. Capable of adapting approaches to meet needs of the team, including being comfortable approaching new and complex issues. Some experience of working in a public financial institution, clean energy or economic growth policy or strategy would be desirable, or a willingness and enthusiasm to develop it.
