Jaguar Land Rover is harnessing technology to make driving smarter, safer and cleaner. You can help create a world in which responsible, sustainable vehicles revolutionise the driving experience for generations. Our vision is to leverage the incredible potential of technology to build vehicles that not only offer a premium, all-encompassing digital experience, but that also make our customers lives better.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Aerodynamic Systems group at JLR is a specialist centre within the Vehicle Efficiency department that covers aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and water and dirt management. We work with exterior design and engineering functions to deliver the right balance of attributes for our products and customers.

The aeroacoustics group is recruiting an engineer to support the development of world-class methods and processes to support the development of JLR vehicles. This role would be of interest to engineers with test or CAE experience with a variety of backgrounds including aerodynamics, NVH, and of course, aeroacoustics. If you\'re looking for a role that it focussed on toolset development in both virtual and physical fields, with opportunities to support vehicle development, benchmarking, and assessing real cars, this could be for you.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead aeroacoustics capability and process development projects within the Aeroacoustics team, using virtual tools including CFD, SEA, FE and geometry preparation tools, as well as physical tools such as full-scale aeroacoustics wind tunnels, proving ground and other test chambers.
  • Deliver technical recommendations and reports
  • Writing and maintaining test procedures and working with supplier application engineers to coordinate training and technical support.
  • Support physical data collection for correlation and validation in full-scale aeroacoustics wind tunnels (overseas), test track and other facilities including anechoic chambers
  • When required, support vehicle programme development including running CFD analyses and wind tunnel tests, and supporting issue resolution in the prototype and production vehicle phases.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

As the Aeroacoustics Methods Development Engineer you will have good experience of working within Aeroacoustics, Aerodynamics or NVH. You will need to hold a formal qualification within a technical discipline such as Degree/ HND/ or time served apprenticeship.

ESSENTIAL
  • Full Driving License
  • Experience in aeroacoustics, aerodynamics or acoustics, either though simulation or experiment
  • Experience in acoustic development and measurement including using NVH tools such as ArtemiS and Test.Lab
  • Real interest and curiosity in fluid dynamics, noise generated by airflow and an appreciation of the importance of wind noise in the overall refinement of a passenger vehicle
DESIRABLE
  • Experience in aeroacoustics or aerodynamic CFD development, ideally PowerFLOW but experience with other solvers would also be useful, particularly with aeroacoustics simulations
  • Experience in experimental aeroacoustics or aerodynamic development, including testing in wind tunnels
  • Experience in geometry creation including CAD and other preparation tools
  • Experience with Python, VBA, Matlab or other languages
SO WHY US?

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you\'ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

This role may offer the opportunity for hybrid working where you can split your time between working from home and in the office. At Jaguar Land Rover, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees with more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work, if suitable for their role. Further details can be discussed with the Hiring Manager at interview stage.

Please be aware that we may close this vacancy for applications before the stated deadline if we receive a high volume of interest. We strongly advise you to submit your application as early as possible.
