The Aerodrome Works Manager is responsible for overseeing the airside works approval process, and supporting the integration of airfield maintenance, transformation, and development projects into the airside environment through the Aerodrome Compliance Coordinators, whilst providing strategic management and development of the broader works schedule. The Post Holder oversees the management of technical and physical safeguarding of drones, cranes and tall construction equipment applying to be used within the vicinity of Heathrow Airport. Ensuring the integrity of the obstacle limitation and instrument flight protection surfaces is maintained to ensure air safety is not compromised. The Aerodrome Works Manager acts as a focal point for Airside Operations, providing specialist aerodrome safeguarding and works advice, including overseeing our aerodrome safeguarding duties to ensure we maintain compliance with CAA regulation. This includes the coordination for activities that protect our aerodrome safeguarded surfaces, such as tree lopping, as well as planning and facilitating our annual aerodrome safeguarding survey. The Post Holder must be technically competent, self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels to provide maximum opportunity for airside work with minimal impact to the business.

Plan, coordinate, and manage airside and landside infrastructure projects. Oversee aerodrome safeguarding processes to protect operational integrity and airspace. Ensure all works comply with CAA/ICAO regulations and airport safety protocols. Liaise closely with airside operations, engineering teams, and external contractors. Support the long-term maintenance and development of critical airport infrastructure.

Strong knowledge of airside operations, including safety zones, access control, and operational impact management. Demonstrable understanding of aerodrome safeguarding, including obstacle limitation surfaces and protected areas. Excellent project management and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Working Location



Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow . Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
