Help create a warm, supportive home-from-home environment for our boarders



We're looking for a caring, proactive and people-focused After School Boarding Assistant to join our Boarding Team. This is a key role at the heart of our boarding community, supporting students at the end of their school day and helping to create a welcoming, nurturing and structured environment where young people feel safe, valued and inspired to thrive.

You'll work closely with our Heads of Boarding Houses and the Head of Boarding, ensuring the smooth running of daily routines and contributing to the positive atmosphere that defines boarding at Wellington School. From greeting pupils as they return from lessons to offering a listening ear or helping with evening activities, your presence will make a real difference to the lives of our students.

About the role



Reporting to the Head of Boarding, you'll take you'll take ownership of:

Welcoming students back to the house after the school day and supporting their transition into evening routines Helping to maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive atmosphere in the boarding house Building positive relationships with pupils, offering encouragement, guidance and a trusted adult presence Assisting with the coordination of after-school and evening activities Supporting with light administrative tasks and general house organisation Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing Working collaboratively with the boarding team to respond flexibly to daily needs and routines

You'll bring:



A warm, approachable and supportive manner, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth club, summer camp or similar environment (desirable but not essential) A calm, positive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to handle a variety of situations confidently and sensitively Excellent communication and teamwork skills A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children A genuine interest in supporting students to flourish and make the most of boarding life
