Job Description

As the Air Policy Staff Officer (Air Pol SO1) in Royal Air Force Air Cadets Headquarters (RAFAC HQ) you will be working within the Operations and Training (Ops/Trg) department of RAFAC HQ reporting directly to the Chief of Staff Operations (CoS (Ops)). This is a full time role, however, a job share may be considered.

Principal Areas of Accountability, Tasks and Duties



Your duties will include, but not limited to:

Through, CoS (Ops), advising Commandant RAFAC on all cadet aviation policy.

Developing policy and strategy for the RAFAC Aviation Progressive Training Syllabus.

Developing, reviewing, and maintaining all aviation related Air Cadet Training Orders (ACTOs).

Reviewing and, where appropriate, taking follow-up action following cadet flying related Defence Aviation Safety Occurrence Reports.

Coordinating the annual Air Cadet Pilot Scholarship programme.

Providing oversight of the aviation activities involved in the International Air Cadet Exchange scheme.

Representing RAFAC HQ on the steering committee of the National Youth Aviation Programme.

Statistical analysis of cadet flying / gliding achievement.

Liaising with No 6 Flying Training school for the provision of cadet Air Experience Flying including attending Customer Executive Board meetings.

Attending the No 2 Flying Training School Air and Space Working Group meetings.

Directing the activities of the RAFAC Regional Aviation Officers.

Personal Specifications

Essential

.

Experience working in a staff environment or civilian equivalent.

Expertise with Microsoft Office applications.

Candidate will be required to obtain Security Clearance.

Candidate will be required to obtain an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate.

Desirable

.

Background in aviation management and supervision.

Previous involvement with cadet organisations, particularly Royal Air Force Air Cadets
