The Airside Safety Investigation Manager is responsible for investigating all airside occurrences and helping to drive improvement in Airside Safety, as well as a step change in Health & Safety and Environmental performance across the Airside Operation. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the investigation team are identifying mitigating actions from safety reports, and that reports are being completed in a timely manner. The Post Holder will lead all investigations across the Airside Operations discipline, Aerodrome, Ground Handling etc.
Leading and managing airside safety investigations, identifying root causes and contributing factors of incidents and near misses.
Coordinating with internal teams, airlines, ground handlers, regulators, and emergency services to ensure thorough, timely investigations.
Leading a team of Safety Investigation Officers, providing guidance, oversight, and support to ensure timely, thorough, and effective investigations into airside incidents and near misses.
Developing and recommending corrective actions and safety improvements to prevent recurrence.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant aviation safety regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
Maintaining detailed and accurate investigation records and producing clear, actionable reports for senior management and regulatory bodies and supporting safety audits, risk assessments, and safety management system activities
Good working knowledge of regulatory environment under which Heathrow operates, and practical application of relevant documentation, such as that produced by the CAA.
Proven experience of stakeholder engagement in complex environments, ideally airside.
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal and able to compose high quality formal documentation.
An understanding of risk, root cause identification and writing comprehensive investigation reports.
A valid UK driving license and occupational health medical check to enable the successful post holder to obtain an airside driving permit and for all areas licence.
