Job Description

Clinical Practice Assure that integrated pathways are in place for individuals who require treatment and support for their health needs related to their addiction. Comply with and support existing immunisation and vaccination pathways to help combat blood borne viruses (BBVs) and other infectious diseases, and provide advice and information to other professionals on BBVs and the care of individuals with drug and alcohol issues. Service Engagement and Promotion Attend, organise, and chair relevant committees and partnership meetings as required, to ensure appropriate representation of services. Promote Change Grow Lives clinical service to commissioners and health and wellbeing boards alongside the Head of Services.



Disseminate applicable information to your team from the senior operational and clinical management teams as required. Delivering a Quality Service Be involved in clinical audit of the service under the direction of the RLN. Contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. Leadership and Workforce Development Ensure that all legislative requirements are explained to employees, particularly legislation governing the clinical and social care/community field.



Maintain your own continuous professional development (CPD) and ensure you remain up to date with clinical practice, including CGL core, mandatory, and optional training. Engage proactively by participating in and providing line management and clinical supervision to the team. Maintain current knowledge of appropriate interventions and support, and identify training needs for yourself and your team, ensuring knowledge, behaviour, and capabilities are upheld within the line management structure. We support nurses and nursing associates in upholding the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code professional standards, which include prioritising people, practising effectively, preserving safety, and promoting professionalism and trust.

Team Working Manage team rotas and ensure sufficient operational coverage. Where necessary, provide clinical cover for specialist outreach nurse colleagues. Risk and Incident Management Oversee responsibility for risk and incident management, including the recording and investigation of incidents and complaints.



Understand health and safety aspects of work, implement and enforce relevant policies, and undertake regular performance reviews to identify and act upon areas of risk. Managing Information Ensure that all data requirements relating to individuals who use our services are met within set deadlines. Clinical Governance and Accountability Be professionally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work and that of the team you are working with, including the management of people in your care. Ensure that the services clinical model is functioning effectively, aligns with best practice and national guidance, and is efficient and compliant with CGL policy, with a particular focus on harm reduction interventions.



Demonstrate a strong understanding of clinical governance and apply this actively to your work. Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, follow national guidelines and developments, and incorporate them appropriately into your practice. Promote an environment that encourages team learning and development. Assist in the development, review, and implementation of clinical standard policies and procedures to ensure that services are delivered, controlled, monitored, and reported effectively.



General Terms of Reference In carrying out these duties, you will work flexibly across operational sites within agreed working hours to maintain appropriate levels of service. You will undertake duties appropriate to the grade of the post, complete annual Data Protection Training, and work within the CGL governance framework. This outline of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may change to meet the evolving needs of CGL. You will work with your RLN/Head of Services to tailor the standard roles and responsibilities as required.



The role may involve evening, weekend, and bank holiday working.
