About the role:



We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an ALN Class Support Assistant. NPT Skills & Training Unit operate within Neath Port Talbot and across South Wales, delivering work based learning programmes, providing vocational training and learning. We work within schools and specialist units, with post 16 young people and employed apprentices across several sectors. NPT Skills & Training are constantly developing their provision and are a growing team, providing many opportunities for staff to develop their own skills, experience and progress internally. Staff development programmes are available to staff to further enhance their career.

As an ALN Class Support Assistant, you will work under the instruction/guidance of tutors/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes to help manage a caseload of learners, some with additional learning needs, disabilities and/or health issues, supporting them to actively engage, participate and achieve a variety of courses/activities, qualifications and programmes offered by Skills & Training. You may work one to one with learners or work with small groups to provide support. You will have responsibility for completing and maintaining learner records needed for management of learners& learning plans.

Your daily routine will include:

Providing Support for Learners

Completing inductions, assessments, forms and help identify the support needs of the learner. Putting the support arrangements in place. Update associated plans and documentation to record the support being provided. Review how well support plans are working. Provide one to one or group support as required. Assist with other support such as travel training or personal care needs.
Providing Support for Tutors

Helping to organise and maintain the learning environment and planned lesson activities. Supporting good classroom management and learner behaviour. Preparing the resources required for session such as IT equipment. Being vigilant to safeguarding concerns and reporting according to policy. Contributing to an inclusive environment and modelling appropriate behaviour.

About you:



You will need to have a basic understanding of the barriers faced by young people and have an understanding of the main types of additional learning needs.

Do you have:

Experience of working with young people/pupils in either a school or post 16 environment, supporting additional learning needs/disabilities/those with health requirements GCSE (or equivalent/higher) in Maths and English grade C and above/Level 2 NVQ Level 2 / equivalent or higher in a related qualification, such as teaching assistant
