This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the Welsh Ambulance Service Non-Emergency Patient Transport team delivering non-emergency patient transport at locations in the Hywel Dda health board area.3 x 19hr - Haverfordwest1 x 31.5hrs in Haverfordwest1 x 31.5hrs in Pembroke Dock1 x 19hr in Pembroke Dock1 x 31.5hr in Fishguard1 x 24hr in Botanics1 x 26.5 hr in BotanicsNumber of Bank positions across the Hywel Dda area.You may be required to operate out of other stations as required.We are looking for candidates that can deliver a high standard of professionalism and compassion when providing a transport service to meet the needs of patients and other service users. Although no formal qualifications are specified for this role, we would expect candidates to be able to demonstrate a reasonable standard of education and personal responsibility and have evidence of delivering excellent customer care. This can be a demanding job.Those candidates that are successful after short listing, will be required to attend an interview, a practical driving assessment and a theory test based on the highway code. These will be carried out in Swansea.Course Start Date in Swansea: June 23rd for 6 weeks.You will need to be available for all the above dates.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be required to drive an equipped NEPTS ambulance or other vehicle as necessary, and carry out non-urgent and non-critical, planned patient journeys usually working with a colleague but sometimes working alone when dealing with patients who can walk unaided or with minimum assistance.The post holder deals with a variety of patients and conditions, most of whom will require different levels of assistance, lifting or carrying to transfer to and from the Trust vehicle.The post holder transports patients safely between their place of residence and designated treatment centres and clinics, provides where necessary appropriate care and assistance which is within the post holder's level of training and competence, and adheres to the Trust Code of Conduct and Standards of Professional behaviour, Service Instructions and the Trust's Standing Procedures and Policies.In addition, the post holder is required to deliver goods or parcels, as necessary from time to time provide administrative support to the Human Resources Team, operating efficiently and effectively in day-to-day activities with particular focus on administering the Trac recruitment system and Electronic Staffing System.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.About us#RemarkablePeopleOur workforce is made up of over 4,000 remarkable people who contribute to the delivery of world-class patient care across Wales, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.   • Successful completion of the 3-week PCS Foundation Course and Station Induction, and a period of up to 12 month's on PCS Grade 1 duties
  • Sound geographical knowledge of area served and able to read a map
  • Moving and Handling techniques, and general awareness of risk, health and safety issues and responsibilities
Desirable
  • First Aid at Work certificate and successful re-certification every 3 years
  • Awareness of relevant Trust and PCS policies, procedures and working practices
  • Sound knowledge of use of Trust vehicles and relevant equipment
  • Basic First Aid and Highway Code.
