We are looking for an individual to join our team who is enthusiastic, has a passion for teaching and will empower colleagues to achieve their learning goals. The key aspects of this role will be to provide excellent learning experiences, educational support and leadership to colleagues studying postgraduate qualifications in Ultrasound, working across Radiology Departments. The successful candidate will be a role model for education and training, delivering high quality teaching and patient care, whilst incorporating national guidance and supporting Hywel Dda University Health Board's clinical governance agenda.
The Sonographer Clinical Practice Educator will strive to maintain a positive and effective learning environment and will work across our Health Board to deliver clinical teaching sessions, mentorship, leadership and support to colleagues. The successful candidate will work with trainee Sonographers, Radiology Registrars, qualified Sonographers, Consultants and other health care professionals to support their clinical development.
This post requires expert clinical knowledge and experience within obstetric and general ultrasound, in order to deliver high quality training, education and clinical support. Subspecialty expertise would be advantageous for this role.
To deliver high quality teaching in ultrasound to a diverse group of health care professionals including, Radiographers, trainee Sonographers, specialist Radiology Registrars, Nurses, Physiotherapists and other health care professionals training to use ultrasound.
To ensure that ultrasound education runs in line with the organisation of the ultrasound service, within frameworks established by required clinical practice, directorate management, Health Board administrative procedures and local, regional and nationally agreed guidelines and service frameworks.
To provide analysis of ultrasound service provision to enable a quality, timely and comprehensive ultrasound service which is sensitive to the requirements of its users.
Ensure staff within the post holder's working area are compliant with safe working practices which includes use of protective devices and the application of control of infection guidelines.
To undertake formal autonomous clinical reporting and interpretation of ultrasound images within their clinical scope of practice, deriving clinical diagnoses and recommendations of further clinical referrals and/or follow-up.
This post is based in Withybush General Hospital but the post holder must be willing to travel to all sites within the Health Board to deliver training.
