Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Animal Care Assistant to join our small but mighty team at Heritage Vets, where we provide a high standard of care for both patients and owners at our Independent Practice. We are a close knit team who thrive on doing the best for our patients every day and pride ourselves on the service we provide

The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care for our patients, ensuring their health and wellbeing. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instruction effectively. The Animal Care Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff. Duties include kennel and ward cleaning, laundry, infection control, feeding and exercising of inpatients, assisting vets and nurses with handling animal during consults and before surgeries, keeping the practice organised and sanitary, light admin and occasional reception duties such as answering the phone or assisting clients in the waiting room. This is a demanding role requiring the individual to work to a high standard whilst being proactive and flexible in their daily tasks.

Experience and Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is essential A Veterinary Care Assistant Level 2 Diploma is advantageous Excellent communication skills are required An ability to work alone and prioritise tasks as well as within a team are essential Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction Basic IT skills to manage records and documentation efficiently An awareness of health and safety particularly surrounding manual and animal handling.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
