Job description

Working within our day care lodge based in Shaw Melksham. Candidates will be expected to Care, play and ensure all the dogs in our care are well looked after and have a fun active day. Daycare is fun, but can be very hard work at times, it can be a challenge when ensuring all our dogs are looked afer as well as ensuring all tasks are completed.

Candidates are required to hold a full UK driving licence and be happy to transport dogs within their own car. Candidates will be required to transport dogs from daycare to the walking field - walk the dogs and bring them back to the daycare. Candidates may also be asked to collect dogs for daycare and then drop them home at the end of the day. (Miles are calculated and fuel is paid with wages on a weekly basis). The car must be suitable for dogs.

Candidates must have working knowledge and previous experience when it comes to working with animals especially dogs. A good understanding of dog behaviour and language would be required.

The Position:

Self-employed role with approximate expected hours: minimum 15-20
We are open Monday - Friday 07:30-18:00 with some half day and some full day shifts
Set rota will usually be the same for each week - we can discuss availability and shift planning at interview.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drop off dogs to their homes and collect for daycare. (if applicable)

Ensure security of their homes when entering and leaving.

Understand special requests and conditions for each dog.

Being with dogs and walking outdoors in all weather conditions, all year round.

Transport dogs safely to and from their homes in your own vehicle (if applicable).

Give each dog love, care and attention.

Walking and playing with the dogs.

Ensuring all daycare tasks are completed every day, and use initiative to complete tasks without being prompted

Follow all of Charlie Paws policies and procedures.

Ensure safety of the dogs you are working with and those (humans and dogs) around you.

Remove pet waste, and cleaning of the dog areas.

Able to control a group of dogs safely.

Provide house visits for small animals such as cats, rabbits, chickens etc (infrequently).

Take photos of the pets for social media.

Maintaining the Charlie Paws brand and following all policies and procedures.

Work as a team covering other team members when required.

SKILLS NEEDED:

2 years worth of experience working in the animal industry, preferably with dogs. Additional animal qualifications are desirable, but having a good knowledge and understanding of dog behaviour and communication is essential.

Must have own car / van and able to transport dogs in.

Must have own mobile phone.

Live locally to the area (within reasonable commuting distance e.g 30min ).

Be passionate and caring towards all animals.

Good communications skills.

Great time keeping.

Friendly and approachable.
