We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Animal Care Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality care and support to animals in a caring environment, ensuring their wellbeing and comfort. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in animal care is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

About the Role
This is a varied role and no day is ever the same. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Feeding and toileting hospitalised animals
Monitoring and providing supportive care to inpatients as instructed by the clinical lead
Assisting with restraining animals during examinations
Preparing medications for dispensing under the guidance of a vet or nurse
Support the nursing team with routine activities
Assist with basic treatments such as nail clips, taking temperatures, pulse rates etc.
Keep the practice clean and tidy
Preparing treatment rooms and surgical areas
Maintaining patient records
Providing clients with support and information regarding their pet
Promoting the Practice's Health Care Plan
Provide cover to the Reception team as and when required
Qualifications
Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Ability to work well within a team environment and follow instructions accurately
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Compassionate attitude towards animals and their welfare

About you
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has previous experience in an animal care role, as well as the practical animal handling skills.
We're would like someone who has experience working in a busy reception alongside their animal care role who feels confident in both animal facing and customer facing environments, however this is not essential.
With great communication skills you will be able to speak to a wide variety of people including vets, members of the public and your team.
