At People for Animal Care Trust (PACT), we're here for animals who need a second chance. Every year, hundreds of wild animals -- from hedgehogs and garden birds to owls, waterfowl, and deer -- arrive at our sanctuary frightened, injured, or orphaned. Every one of them deserves safety, kindness, and the chance to return to the wild.
We're looking for a dedicated Wildlife Animal Carer to join our specialist sanctuary team. You'll deliver hands-on care and rehabilitation, from feeding and cleaning to supporting recovery and pre-release assessments. It's a demanding but meaningful role -- helping wild animals on their journey from rescue to release.
You'll make a difference if you:
Have experience or training in animal care (wildlife experience desirable).
Remain calm under pressure and work carefully with injured or stressed animals.
Pay close attention to detail, spotting subtle health or behavioural changes.
Work well in a team and support a respectful, inclusive culture.
Are comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and at pace.
Can engage sensitively with volunteers and members of the public bringing in wildlife.
Your daily impact:
Provide feeding, cleaning, and enrichment for a wide variety of wildlife species.
Monitor animal health, behaviour, and recovery progress, flagging welfare concerns.
Assist with admissions, veterinary checks, and medication under supervision.
Maintain clean, biosecure, and safe enclosures that replicate natural environments.
Support pre-release assessments and safe release back into the wild.
Welcome and support volunteers and reassure members of the public bringing in casualties.
What success looks like:
Wild animals recover safely and are released back to their natural environment.
Enclosures and aviaries are clean, biosecure, and species-appropriate.
Accurate, detailed care and rehabilitation records are maintained.
Volunteers feel informed, supported, and safe in their roles.
The team delivers care with compassion, professionalism, and respect.
What we offer:
A meaningful role in a mission-led sanctuary.
A supportive, inclusive team culture.
28 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata).
Pension and wellbeing support.
