Are you passionate about animal welfare and experienced in working with a variety of species? We are looking for a dedicated Animal Keeper to join our specialist team and play a key role in the care and management of our diverse animal collection.
In this role, you will carry out all aspects of animal husbandry to ensure high standards of welfare are maintained at all times. You will be responsible for tasks such as feeding, cleaning, providing enrichment, and ensuring the upkeep and safety of enclosures and facilities. You will also help maintain accurate records, support with veterinary appointments, and assist in the supervision and training of new team members.
A key part of your role will involve working closely with students, supporting their practical learning and development. This includes supervising them during hands-on sessions and assisting academic staff during practical lessons. As such, you will need to be confident in managing varied student needs and working within an educational setting.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with at least two years' experience in an animal establishment and a Level 3 or above qualification in Animal Care. Experience with rodents, reptiles, and primates is essential, and a First Aid at Work certificate and full driving licence are required.
We are seeking someone who is energetic, personable, and emotionally resilient. A genuine motivation to work with young people and an ability to manage priorities in a busy environment are essential.
The role involves working 39 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota basis.
