Job Title: Animal Management Instructor Keeper



Location: Saltaire



Contract Type: Part-time - 29.6 hours, Permanent



Salary: 23,815 per annum, pro rata



About Role:



As an Animal Management Instructor/Keeper, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day care, welfare, and husbandry of a diverse animal collection within the Animal Centre. Reporting to the Curriculum Team Leader, you will support both practical and educational functions by maintaining animal enclosures and facilities, preparing resources for teaching, and delivering hands-on lessons to learners at Levels 1 to 3. This role combines animal management expertise with teaching responsibilities, including assessing practical skills and contributing to curriculum development. You will also supervise students, help promote the unit through commercial and community activities, and uphold the College's values in safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:



Be responsible for the daily care, welfare, and supervision of animals, as well as the overall organisation of the animal unit, working under the guidance of the Head of Department. Carry out routine husbandry and maintenance of the animal collection, and provide assistance with the upkeep of enclosures, paddocks, and surrounding grounds. Collaborate with the Curriculum Team Leader and teaching staff to ensure that appropriate resources are in place to support delivery of the curriculum. Contribute to the teaching and assessment of practical sessions, helping to bring the curriculum to life for students.
