Animal Nursing Assistant

We are looking to recruit compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly team providing care for our patients.

An ANA is a multifunctional role and you will expected to assist the vets and nurses as well as carrying out cleaning and reception duties on a daily basis. Previous experience working with animals is desirable, ideally within a veterinary setting.

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week normally worked on a 4.5 days per week rota basis with the opportunity for paid overtime or time off in lieu for additional hours worked.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm and Saturday morning 8.30am to 12noon.

The successful candidates must have the ability to independently travel between our three main surgeries of Wincanton, Gillingham and Milborne Port on either a permanent or ad hoc basis.

Main Responsibilities:

maintain a high standard of cleanliness in clinical areas, kennels and cattery maintenance of laundry procedures prepare clinical areas and equipment for daily procedures assisting vets/nurses with handling and restraining patients during examinations and treatment assist the vets/nurses in preparation of patients for surgery assist with the care and observations of inpatients, communicating and reporting changes promptly and effectively carry out laboratory work as directed adhere to clinical protocols carry out reception duties including dispensary and stock control to attend team and practice meetings as required
