The starting salary is 53,459, which includes allowances totalling 2,928.
The salary is broken down as 50,531 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 55,103 Plus, a location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

The Met Intelligence command (MO2) sits within Met Operations, seeking to support and inform Frontline Policing and Specialist Operations.
MO2 consists of multiple units employing c.1500 police staff and officers. Intelligence holds the key to preventing and solving crimes, disrupting offenders and criminal networks, and keeping communities safe from harm. By joining MO2 you will be strengthening the ability of the Metropolitan Police to meet these objectives and to improve the lives of those who live and work in this amazing city.
The Met Intelligence department has a range of skills covering the vast area of support this department provides to the Met. As an ANPR Technical Supervisor, you will supervise an engineering team to manage the design, build, deployment, and maintenance of ANPR systems and assets, to meet specific business requirements.
ANPR - Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology - is one of many advanced systems that are helping the Met fight crime. To ensure it's always in good working order, we rely on our technicians. Job Role
As Supervisor, you'll have a central role in the ANPR Technical Services Team. You'll organise our Deployment Engineers to resolve system issues and solve technical challenges. You'll be thinking innovatively to get problems fixed and working with new technologies, all while managing team operations and liaising with key contacts. With an opportunity to deputise for the ANPR Manager, you'll hone your leadership skills within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
With an HND, HNC or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, you'll understand the theory and practical application of ANPR technology. If you haven't used it before, we'll give you training. But you must bring knowledge of operating platforms including Windows and Linux, as well as IP-based systems and networking technologies such as firewalls, routers, and switches. Beyond this, you'll need experience in a supervisory role - it's important you support teams and strive to meet new challenges. Please note that you'll be part of an operational team, so you may be required to work outside normal office hours.
Working hours
: Core hours Monday to Friday, between 0900-1700hrs. Flexible working and some occasional overtime.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and support technical engineering team.
Effective management of MPS assets and records.
Attend operational tasking meetings.
Engage and work with Operational teams to achieve best outcomes through use of technology.
Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and NICEIC accreditation.
Effective communication and management of key stakeholders.
Provide written and verbal technical reports to line manager and senior staff members.
Ensure daily tasks are completely efficiently and to specification.
Ensure highest standards are maintained across all activities.
Engage and communicate effectively with multiple technology vendors.
Management implementation of Health and Safety Standards.
Travel across the UK to support engineering team.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.

Essential For The Role
Essential Criteria
5 years or more experience in an electrical/electronic or similar engineering role
or
HND/HNC In Electrical & Electronic Engineering
or
Degree in an Engineering Discipline
Hold a full UK License with C1 Category and no more than 3 points.
Previous experience performing in a supervisory role.
Knowledge of IP Networks, protocols, and equipment such as switches, firewalls, and routers.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Software Suite and similar software applications including some knowledge of Windows operating systems and Linux etc.
Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of Health & Safety and Risk management.
Desirable Criteria
Excellent knowledge of ANPR technologies and ANPR systems.
Previous experience with mobile communication technologies.
Excellent knowledge of NICEIC accreditation.
Some knowledge of 3/4/5G technology and various radio transmission technologies
Excellent knowledge of 17th or 18th Edition wiring regulations.
Excellent knowledge or experience working with Firewalls, routers, switches etc. or Cisco certification.
To demonstrate excellent proven knowledge, experience, and skills in the use of ANPR technology with a proven ability to lead manage and influence staff and others in the deployment of the technology.
To demonstrate knowledge of ANPR deployment technology and transmission media to effectively deploy the systems for immediate use across London and the UK.
To be able to demonstrate the theoretical and practical application of ANPR alignment to meet NASP compliance for the commissioning of ANPR camera systems.
Demonstrate excellent knowledge of theoretical and practical application of Electrical and Electronic principles.
Demonstrate excellent knowledge of IP based systems and networking technologies such as Firewalls, Routers and Switches.
To lead on this specialist area of work, and to be an active member of the expert national policing ANPR community.
Skills
