Description



The primary focus of the role is to maintain good order and to keep pupils on task in lessons and at social times; working collaboratively with teachers to establish and maintain a positive climate for learning for all pupils, and supporting them in making progress in all subjects.

Employer Description



Multi-Academy Trust of ten schools based in Calderdale and Kirklees; four of the schools are based in Calderdale, six are in Kirklees. In the Trust there are two secondary schools, there are six primary schools, one through school and one Alternative Provision.

Roles & Responsibilities



To establish positive working relationships with pupils, acting as a strong role model at all times. To support the delivery of learning, participating in the planning and implementation of programmes of study and effective record keeping. To support pupils, recognising and responding to their individual needs, encouraging them to interact and work co-operatively with others, providing feedback in relation to progress and achievement. To provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their learning, behaviour and attendance, challenging and motivating pupils, and promoting and reinforcing self-esteem. To support the wider staff team in accurately identifying and promoting positive behavioural change in pupils experiencing SEMH issues. To be aware of, and support difference, ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. To regularly liaise with parents / carers, sensitively and effectively. To build supportive relationships with parents / carers, other schools and partner agencies to promote effective working relationships. To take an active role in the production of Coping in School Scale Reports, Pupil Focus Reports, Behaviour Management Plans, Risk Assessments, and individual case studies. To develop an increased knowledge base and relevant expertise through CPD, attendance on accredited courses and self-study. To positively contribute to the creation of resources to be used to support pupils in a range of situations. Take part in research-led activities to develop knowledge and skills. To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. To actively support the effective use of ICT in learning activities.

Skills Required



Ability to cope with the requirements of the post, which will include working with pupils who have significant social, emotional and mental health needs. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Ability to relate well to pupils and adults, and an ability to work positively as part of an effective team. Ability to exercise good co-operative, interpersonal and effective listening skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters relating to the Academy, its pupils, parents or carers. Understanding of child protection / safeguarding issues. Good numeracy / literacy skills. Basic ICT skills.

Working Days



Term time plus five INSET days; Monday to Friday - 08:45 to 15:15.

Qualifications Required



GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

Duration



Two years on a Fixed Term contract.
