Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Appeals and Tribunal Senior to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing appeals and tribunal cases, ensuring that all processes are handled efficiently and effectively. This position requires strong analytical and IT skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to families. The Appeals and Tribunal Senior will work closely with colleagues and families to resolve issues and facilitate positive outcomes.
Purpose:
The
Appeals and Tribunals Senior
will provide expert advice, casework, and representation for families navigating
SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) tribunals
,
school placement appeals
, and related statutory processes. The role combines direct client work with capacity-building and advocacy, ensuring families are supported, informed, and heard.
Responsibilities:
Casework and Advice
Provide direct advice, guidance and representation to families appealing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), school exclusions, or placement decisions.
Prepare, submit and manage appeal documentation in line with SEND Tribunal procedures.
Liaise with local authorities, schools, and other professionals to support positive outcomes for families.
Representation and Advocacy
Represent families in mediation and tribunal hearings, ensuring their voices are central to the process.
Ensure that all work is person-centred, evidence-based, and aligned with the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act 2010.
Prepare, submit and manage appeal documentation in line with SEND Tribunal procedures.
Liaise with local authorities, schools, and other professionals to support positive outcomes for families.

Requirements
Proven experience in managing appeals or tribunal cases is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English; bilingual or multilingual abilities are advantageous.
Demonstrated proficiency in data entry, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all documentation.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
A commitment to providing exceptional client service and maintaining professionalism at all times.
Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to appeals processes is beneficial but not essential.
