Summary



We are seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our dynamic team in

Blackburn

. In this role, co-ordinate the application support function, ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of businesscritical applications. You will act as the primary escalation point for complex issues, coordinate with development squads, and drive best practices.

Your role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions that enhance system reliability and user experience. You will also mentor junior team members and contribute to strategic initiatives that align with business objectives.

Responsibilities



Lead the Application Support team in delivering high-quality support for applications across multiple environments. Lead by example, showing tenacity in resolving complex business impacting issue in a timely manner. Act as the lead technical escalation point for complex incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution. Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to maintain support excellence. Champion best practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management). Monitor application performance and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime. Maintain and improve documentation for support processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides. Drive automation and efficiency improvements within support workflows. Ensure compliance with security, data integrity, and regulatory requirements. Mentor and coach junior support engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning. Participate in and co-ordinate on-call rotation and ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Essential Qualifications



3+ years in application support, with at least 1 year in a lead role. Experience in enterprise systems and multi-tier architectures. Strong troubleshooting skills, SQL/database knowledge, scripting, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to work under pressure, and lead a team effectively. Excellent, confident communicator. Very strong organisational skills. Knowledge of test-driven development and continuous integration. Experience of working in an agile environment. Strong teamwork skills. Self-motivated with an enthusiasm and desire to learn

Desirable



ITIL Foundation and Agile Scrum certification desirable. Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. PRTG, cloud platforms (Azure), and DevOps practices.
