The Role
We have an opportunity for a
Senior Engineer
(with 2 to 5 years' experience) to join our Applied Science Practice in Aberdeen, UK, where we use our expert knowledge to develop technical and bespoke solutions for our clients.
The role is dependent upon the experience and skillset of the selected applicant but will require support for projects across a wide range of disciplines, with a focus on technical safety / risk and hazard analysis using empirical and thermo-fluids / fluid mechanics models, and regular interaction with clients to identify their needs and project opportunities. The successful candidate will support ongoing work in the energy sector and the development of our decarbonisation agenda. Recent example activities include:
Fire and explosion risk assessment for offshore facilities
Hazard Modelling for fracking operations
Risk assessment for wind turbines
Fire load response analysis and vessel failure analysis
Facility Siting Studies
Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis
Battery and hydrogen vehicle hazard analysis for bus testing facility
Concept development design of small-scale microgrid system
CFD fire and explosion risk assessment for offshore facilities
Onshore gas transmission pipeline risk assessment
Responsibilities
The candidate should possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills - facilitating positive internal and client relationships. Excellent technical writing skills for engineering consulting applications are required, as are engineering/scientific problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications
Degree (Masters and/or PhD preferred) in Engineering or a related subject (e.g. physics, chemistry, mathematics) and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of fundamental principles and problem solving.
Strong computer literacy is required with an enthusiasm to learn new applications and packages.
Knowledge of programming languages is desirable.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain UK Government security clearance. Eligibility requirements depend on individual circumstances.
