Introduction to the discipline/team:
Our site-based Design & Technical teams manage the design process for all of our in-house construction projects, to ensure that design & technical issues are dealt with in a timely manner. This includes reviewing drawings and other design information to ensure that designs meet the relevant statutory and environmental standards as well as our cost and programme targets.
Overview of the role:
We are looking for an apprentice to join our busy and supportive Design & Technical team to train as an Apprentice Design & Technical Coordinator. This is a site-based role on an in-house residential construction project and will provide support to Design & Technical colleagues as well as the wider project team. You will assist in managing the design process for your allocated project. You will ensure that all design & technical issues are dealt with in a timely manner. This includes reviewing design drawings and submitting information for planning, NHBC and Building Control.
The successful candidate will be working under instruction and supervision but also individually, taking responsibility for their own work (where appropriate, and within their assessed abilities and skill set). This will include carrying out day to day management of the design process, liaising with design consultants and other stakeholders.
You will be engaged in a challenging and fast-paced role from day one and be accountable for your area of responsibility whilst being supported by a line manager and mentor to guide and develop skills where required.
Strong organisational skills are essential to this role as well as excellent communication skills and a willingness to build an understanding of the design process for residential construction projects.
The apprenticeship learning will support your development and chosen career path. Whilst undertaking your learning programme, your manager will help guide your development and day-to-day work, a mentor will provide extra support throughout your role, and you'll be working alongside experienced colleagues to learn hands-on, work-based skills

Strong numeracy skills
Ability to understand and be understood, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently, as well as being a good team player.
Good organisational skills and ability to manage/prioritise own workload.

Eligibility for apprenticeship:
3 A Levels minimum grade BBC or;
BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
Access to HE qualifications with 15 Distinctions 30 Merits or;
Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points (must include an art or design subject)
Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
