The apprentice will be working with a small team and responsible for ensuring the well- being and educational needs of preschool children are fulfilled. They will learn to plan activities for children following the Early Years Foundation Stage and record observations and assessments based on knowledge of child development.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years
To ensure that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others
To developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development
To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Leadership Team
To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship
Main activities:
To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times
To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress
To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times
To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with safeguarding issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes
To be a key person
To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, Tapestry, accident and incident books
To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement
To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
This is an advanced apprenticeship in Early Years Educator (Level 3).
It will involve a combination of on and off the job training in the workplace.
You will have monthly mentoring and guidance at work from a Craven College Learning & Development Advisor.
After 18 months you will be entered to undertake an End Point Assessment, to complete your Apprenticeship.
The End Point Assessment will comprise of a knowledge test and professional discussion with the assessor.
Functional skills if required.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On the successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice could be offered a permanent position.
