As a result, our products are repeatedly used in temperature control applications such as plastics machinery, ovens, furnaces, laboratory and test equipment, packaging machinery and food processing.

An exciting opportunity with a world-class company! In this wide-ranging apprenticeship you will learn to design, develop and test new, plus maintain current test fixtures. The Electronics Production Engineer is responsible for initiatives to achieve continuous improvement and maintenance of West's current test fixtures and jigs. This is a team-based position working within the Production Engineering team.

You will learn to:



Design, develop, maintain and upgrade test fixtures and jigs. Test and troubleshoot of electrical/electronic control systems, producing detailed design. Some software development. Creation and control of production drawings and work instructions. Hardware and software revisions. Develop databases . Define and implement work Instructions and processes.
This role will develop over the apprenticeship as you learn to maintain current software up to date to upgrade legacy testers using electrical schematics and Control Philosophy/FDS. A Functional Design Specification (FDS) is a document that describes how a process or a control system will operate.

Apprenticeship duration - 48 months

Weekly working hours - 7.30am to 4.30pm Mon to Thu (0.5hr for lunch)

7.30am to 12.30pm Fri.

Total working hours - 39

Pay rate - 20,280 per annum

Qualifications: Essential



5 x GCSE at Grade 4/5 (C) and above including English and maths. Science and ICT an advantage.

Desirable



Good level of written and spoken English, with clear and concise communication abilities. Quick learner with the ability to grasp and explore opportunities. Ability to work independently with effective time management and personal organisation. Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Training to be provided:



On completion of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following qualifications;

Engineering and manufacturing support technician - Level 3 ST1395 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Technical Support Level 3
The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of end point assessment.

As with all apprenticeships, this requires a long-term commitment - there will be assignments and logbook entries to complete. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a top company, whilst you work towards nationally recognised qualifications.
