An Apprentice Generator Engineer is someone in training to become a specialist in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical generators. This role combines both theoretical learning and hands-on experience, often as part of a formal apprenticeship program.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with generator installation and setup under supervision.
Performing routine maintenance and checks on generators (diesel, gas, or renewable-powered).
Diagnosing faults and helping repair mechanical or electrical issues.
Learning to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
Following safety protocols and industry standards.
Skills and Knowledge Gained:
Electrical and mechanical engineering basics.
Generator types and working principles.
Wiring, circuit testing, and voltage regulation.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving methods.
Typical Requirements:
GCSEs or equivalent (especially in Maths, Science, English).
Enrollment in an apprenticeship scheme (often 3-4 years).
Working toward a qualification like an NVQ, City & Guilds, or BTEC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Pay: 7.55-12.21 per hour
