Job Overview:
Archibald Young Ltd is a leading producer of high integrity ferrous and non-ferrous engineering castings supplying into a diverse range of manufacturing sectors such as power generation, pumps, valves, marine and general engineering.
We are seeking an Apprentice to join our team of moulder/core-makers at our Kirkintilloch facility. This position would ideally suit a school leaver looking to learn a trade, in-house training will be given along with an Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship and future opportunity for college day release towards an HNC qualification.
To learn and assist with the smooth, efficient running of the foundry moulding operations
Painting and closing moulds
Preparing moulds for casting
General Housekeeping etc.
Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled tradespeople in performing their duties
- Learn to assemble, ram and strip 'no bake' sand moulds
- Gain knowledge of molten metal control in running and feeding systems
- Use hand tools and power tools under supervision
Skills:
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour tasks
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Excellent time management skills
