What You'll Be Doing:

You'll learn how to:

Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine mould dimensions Plan, lay out, and construct wooden moulds and panels Fit and fasten wooden parts using glue, nails, dowels, and screws Shape, plane, shave, and sand wood surfaces using hand tools Operate woodworking machinery such as band saws, mitre saws, and table saws Finish moulds with lacquer, wax, or paint Maintain and repair existing moulds and patterns Inventory tools and materials, and order supplies as needed Compute dimensions, volume, and weights of moulds Estimate costs for mould production Maintain detailed mould and pattern records
