This apprenticeship is a great opportunity to study a Level 2 Apprenticeship in the medicines counter assistant/dispensing assistant course alongside work based learning.
You will be working alongside a dedicated team of qualified pharmacists and dispensers who will aid you in developing your learning and skills whilst on the job and attending one day a week at college.
Day to day duties include:
Provide excellent customer service, selling and providing advice on over the counter medicines to customers, dealing with patient queries, and handing out prescription medications to customers.
Ensure that the pharmacy always projects a professional image.
Attend training days at college once a week.
Using dispensary computer systems, dispense medication as stated on prescriptions, maintaining accurate dispensing records and ensuring that the medication is accurately labelled to ensure medicines are correctly and safely supplied.
Dispense Monitored Dosage Systems (MDS) / blister packs and complete the associated documentation as per the associated SOPs where required.
Complete all NHS and other pharmacy service paperwork accurately and on time.
Receiving incoming goods from suppliers and putting them away on shelves.
Ensure that all areas within the pharmacy are clean, tidy, and well organised with special attention to risk management guidelines.
Read, ensure understanding and comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Respect and maintain confidentiality of information concerning customers, colleagues, company policies and statistics in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Keep up to date with current pharmacy practice, new medication and their uses, and new pharmacy services.
Applicants will have a minimum GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English and will also possess good communication, literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills, have a positive attitude to work and have an eager to learn.
No previous work experience or skills needed.
