The team...





Poor housing standards and management of privately rented properties pose a threat to people's health and spoil residents enjoyment of their area. The Council's private housing team improves private housing conditions, supports vulnerable people and tackles housing related crime.


About the role....



We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x Apprentice Regulatory Compliance Officers to join the team. If you are looking for a career that is varied, challenging, and rewarding, then this is an excellent pathway for you.



The role will include progressively more complex work throughout an apprenticeship period whilst you are supported to complete the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer (Housing) Apprenticeship.



When you're not studying you'll work alongside experienced officers to engage with tenants and landlords, assess housing standards, process property licence applications, identify regulatory breaches and investigate non-compliance with housing related laws.

You'll be paid a competitive salary of 23,557 pa You'll spend 1 day per week working towards Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer (Housing) Apprenticeship, with a work based mentor to help you through the course, with the other 4 days each week working amongst experienced officers to help you develop your skills. We'll pay the Apprenticeship course fees. We'll help you save for your future with an outstanding employer contribution to your pension. You will receive an annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per year (pro-rata for part time employees) rising to 32, 2 of which may be fixed by the council at any time. You also have the chance to buy up to 10 additional holidays per year. You'll have the opportunity to participate in the Council's Flexi time scheme, subject to management approval and business needs, which could be up to 26 flexi days per year. We offer hybrid working arrangements to ensure a positive work life balance. You must...




Have GCSE English and Maths - Grade 9-4 (Grades A -C) or equivalent Have an understanding of the role of the Council as a regulator of housing standards Have good verbal and written communication skills Be computer literate Have experience of working in a customer focussed environment and of team work. Have well developed planning, organisational and communication skills and ability to apply a methodical approach to problem solving.
