Leeds City College are recruiting for an enthusiastic
Apprentice Teacher
to join our Education and Early Years team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people and who is eager to develop their teaching skills in a supportive environment.
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will gain on the job experience, whilst also working towards completing your Teaching apprenticeship - on completion you will gain a
Level 5 Certificate in Education
. The course is provided internally through University Centre Leeds.
You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning and Assessment team who share their expertise and guidance on best practice to our teaching colleagues at all levels of their career.
As this is an apprenticeship role, it is fixed term for the length of the apprenticeship - 24 months.
The ideal candidate will be committed to inspiring students and supporting their learning journey at Leeds City College. You will work alongside experienced teachers, developing your ability to engage and motivate students, and gaining valuable hands-on experience in the classroom.
The Education and Early Years department has over 30 dedicated staff supporting approximately 600 students. For many of our learners, achieving their qualification is life-changing, opening doors to further study, employment, or higher education.

What You Will Do Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and track and monitor progress against these.
Responsible for recording student progress and supporting students to achieve targets.
Delivery of a minimum of 100 teaching hours over the two-year period.
Support teaching and learning across a range of levels in a Teaching Assistant (TA) capacity, developing conifdence, classroom presence and understanding of learner needs.
About You The ideal candidate will have some experience working with young people, ideally aged 16-19, and an understanding of the challenges and barriers they may face, particularly those who may be disengaged or require additional support. As an Apprentice Teacher, you will be developing these skills further, supported by experienced colleagues.
A good standard of digital literacy is essential, as you will be using systems to support tracking, communication, and lesson delivery. You will also need strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with good organisational abilities to support both students and staff effectively.
You should be confident, or keen to develop confidence, in building positive, supportive relationships with students--motivating and inspiring them to make the most of their placements in early years settings and primary schools. Your ability to work well both independently and as part of a team will be key to ensuring students receive consistent, tailored support.
A passion for inspiring the next generation of the education and early years workforce is essential. You may have experience in teaching, instructing, or coaching, or be keen to develop these skills, using active learning approaches and differentiated support. Above all, you will be adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn, with a responsive approach to the diverse and evolving needs of the learners you support.
