Job Description

We are recruiting an Apprentice Vehicle Damage Panel Technician.

This Panel Apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to work in a modern Bodyshop-type environment, working on a broad range of vehicles to develop a level of skilled craft in Panel Repair & Replacement.

A Vehicle Damage Panel Technician works within the collision repair workshop, demonstrating expert working knowledge in relation to the removal, repair and replacement of vehicle body panels to vehicle manufacturer specification. Technicians will use their skills to correctly identify the different body panel types and have the ability to use the correct repair tools to carry out the work to the highest possible standard.

Panel Technician

will:

Repair all types of vehicle body panels Repair or refurbish trim components Repair vehicles using thermal welding operations and processes Repair vehicles using non thermal joining, bonding and adhesive processes including: TIG, MIG, MAG, resistance spot welding, mechanical fasteners. Remove, repair and replace structural body panels Identify and rectify vehicle body structural misalignment Follow defined processes to rectify vehicle body misalignment using specialist vehicle alignment jigs. Is able to interpret and work accurately to repair specifications. Has the ability to work in a focused, analytical and methodical way, completing repairs on time, every time with a right-first-time, customer focused culture under-pinning all their activities. Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines. Check the condition and ensure the correct maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials. Embraces the need to put complete customer satisfaction, as well as commercial awareness, at the centre of everything they do. Ensures all health and safety policies are adhered to. Undertake all other tasks and activities as requested by the Bodyshop Manager. Has effective communication throughout the repair process, both with clients and with other members of the team. Displays a good attitude, a positive approach to learning & development and a high level of ambition.
All apprentices are trained through their apprenticeship to achieve these levels of performance and activity.

Training

To be confirmed. Training will be provided by a government approved provider. Training delivery will be delivered using block release, day release or assessor site visits.

Block release delivery, learner spends circa five weeks at site and then every sixth week on a residential course at training provider premises. Day release delivery, learner spends one day per week at training provider premises. Assessor visit delivery, learner carries out majority of learning at place of work, supported by online tuition, assessor visits to site and occasional days at training provider premises

: 36 months

Future progression

To become a fully qualified Panel Technician and secure a full-time role as permanent member of the team
