Job Brief

AB Electrical has opportunities for enthusiastic fully qualified 18th Edition Electricians to become part of our growing team. As part of our team, you will receive ongoing training, support and development. We have great opportunities to help install and maintain work for our existing and new client base. Opportunities in the commercial sector with the provision of a wide range of electrical services.

The role requires an experienced, flexible, and highly motivated individual who is capable of working under their own initiative and as part of a team.

You will be working in our electrical department where the current split of works are as follows:

Maintenance & minor repairs 30%

Minor works 30%

Electrical installations 30%

Test & inspections 5%

Breakdowns 5%

Contractual Information

Job Type:

Full-time, Permanent

Probation Period:

6 Months

Hours of Work:

Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm with a 30minute unpaid break for lunch

Salary:

38,000 - 42,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)

You will be provided with the following:

22 days paid holiday plus all UK statutory Bank Holidays (increases with time served)

Person Specification

Essential Experience, Skills & Competencies Required (Technical & Practical Experience)

The candidate should have 5 years solid electrical installation background and should:

Have served a recognised apprenticeship, or demonstrate time served experience

Have experience in industrial, commercial, and domestic working environments

Have a good understanding of BS:7671

Have basic IT skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook

Single and three phase installations

Single and three phase distribution systems

Installation of cable management systems including plastic & steel conduit, trunking, and cable tray

Ability to accurately find and diagnose faults on electrical systems

Understanding and appropriate application of the regulations

Knowledge of, or be willing to learn the NICEIC online certification process

Emergency / escape lighting

Installation of lighting and power systems

Fire alarm systems (an advantage)

Door entry systems (an advantage)

Portable appliance testing

Data cable installation

Education & Qualifications Required

City & Guilds 2356 NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation & AM2

City & Guilds 2357 NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent

City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition

City & Guilds 2391-52 Test & Inspection or equivalent

Must be able to understand and carry out electrical installation work efficiently to BS 7671:2018+A2

Essential Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence

Non-Essential

ECS Card (with at least 6 months remaining)

IPAF

PASMA

Asbestos Awareness

Knowledge of BS 5266-1 & 8 & BS 5389-6

Knowledge of fire and security systems

Knowledge of renewables

Further Requirements

To be familiar with the companies' policies, procedures and guidelines which are set out in the Employee Handbook. Particularly, those associated with Health and Safety.

To undertake training and development essential for the role.

To complete a 6-month probationary period and participate in annual appraisals with your line manager to monitor performance and set objectives.

To undertake any other reasonable duty, at the same level of responsibility, that has been requested by senior staff.
