We have an opportunity for an AR Assistant to join our AR Team to support our Hamilton site.
Finsbury Food Group is a leading specialty bakery manufacturer. We constantly raise quality and efficiency standards and build long-term relationships within the foodservice channel. Finsbury offer a wide range of bakery products and are a leading frozen supplier into the Foodservice sector.
The AR Assistant will support the retail division with debt collection by phone and email, ensuring payment terms are met and any queries are raised and resolved across multiple sites. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone with prior experience in an accounts receivable or ledger position, ideally with knowledge of accounting software and/or integrated ERP systems, and strong problem-solving and query-resolution skills.
Based at our Hamilton site, this position offers hybrid working, with occasional travel to other local sites as required. It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within one of the UK's largest bakery businesses, working closely with a friendly and collaborative team both locally and at group level. This is what you'll actually do!
As an AR Assistant, you will be responsible for producing query reports for the Commercial and Finance teams, ensuring they are kept up to date, managed effectively, and followed through to resolution. You will also support the preparation of month-end reports, manage any EDI issues in collaboration with IT, and monitor customer portals as required.
In addition, you will oversee the management of customer accounts by ensuring cash is accurately applied, issuing monthly statements or Excel downloads, and responding to ad hoc customer requests. You will also be responsible for monitoring the AR email inbox, resolving queries, and providing timely support to customers and colleagues.

Experience in AR Credit control, and have any relevent AR qualifications
Part/fully qualified in CIMA or qualified through experience
Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills
Experience in using accounting software and integrated ERP systems
Able to prioritise multiple tasks effectively and work to tight deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills - ability to liaise with both finance and non-finance stakeholders across the business
Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing industry beneficial but not essential
