What will be your primary role?
The position of Architectural Engineer leads and manages multi-phase construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and utility systems. Responsibilities include planning, design, budgeting, and execution of assigned projects, as well as overseeing contractors to ensure adherence to specifications, schedules, and safety regulations. This role also involves data collection and analysis to optimize project approaches and providing expert consultation and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. Degree in Architecture or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines together with specialized experience.
OR
Combination of education: minimum Level 5 (i.e. BTEC Higher National Diploma Level 5 in Architectural Technology or related field) together with a minimum of 3 years of specialized experience.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Professional knowledge of architectural concepts, principles, and practices and familiarity with engineering disciplines.
2. Knowledge of a broad range of architectural standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations; of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures as it relates to facilities engineering; knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders; of environmental principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues; of work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds.
3. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions; and knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems and management.
4. Knowledge of aesthetic and functional design techniques and skill in preparing project documentation, to include preliminary drawings, sketches, and construction drawings; and technique / skill in drafting sufficient to convey design concepts and ideas and formulate working drawings.
5. Ability to plan, conduct and record site/facilities surveys and inspection; to analyze, interpret, and apply results, rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
6. Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate with other architects and engineering disciplines; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours a week period on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0730-1530) - where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
6. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid driver's license (Category B) is required for the position.
7. You may act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required. You may be required to serve on A&E selection boards.
8. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate enhanced security clearance.
9. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
