Halls is a leading provider of property and rural services across Shropshire and surrounding counties. We offer a range of services from planning & development, residential/commercial sales and lettings to livestock auctions, fine art, surveying and professional valuations.

We currently have an opportunity for an Architectural Technologist/Technician to join our Planning Department based at our Head Office in Shrewsbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a rapidly expanding and fast-paced department within a renowned, market leading company. The full-time position is a long-term role managing a varied caseload, with considerable opportunity for career progression.

Responsibilities



The successful candidate will:

Assess the needs of clients to agree the project brief for planning applications, and building regulations applications Delivery of client projects liaising with specialist stakeholders and engineers to prepare, and manage planning and building regulations applications, across the residential, commercial, leisure

,

and agricultural sectors to achieve approvals. Take lead on the design process and co-ordinate detailed design information with other consultants/colleagues, disseminate information to team members and negotiate with specialist consultants, and Local Authorities Source technical information, buildability awareness, carry out measured surveys, to prepare and present design proposals, working drawings and specifications Liaise with and produce documentation for statutory and local approval authorities.

Requirements



In addition to having the necessary experience in the above, candidates will also be expected to have the following attributes:

Relevant educational background (qualified or studying) in Architectural Technologist or similar allied discipline. Ideally holding at least 2 years' experience working in a Technologist/Technician role, or equivalent, with a proven track record in technical building roles working with technical specialists and engaging with stakeholders to deliver planning and building regulations approvals. Good knowledge of construction and building law. Able to competently use Autodesk or Drawing Express (by Trial Systems) design package as a minimum, with other software packages a bonus eg, other 2D, 3D rendering packages, ie, Google Sketchup. Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with longstanding clients. Excellent organisational skills ensuring the highest level of client service provided. Demonstrated competency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), Autodesk, Drawing Express (by Trial Systems). Have a full UK driving licence.
We will offer the successful candidate a package starting from 27,500 but open to discussion.
