IRW's Facilities department is recruiting for the position of 'Archivist' to join its dynamic team based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK. The organisation operates to a hybrid working model.
Job Purpose:
To lead on the development, protection and preservation of Islamic Relief Worldwide's (IRW) documented institutional memory.
To facilitate access to IRWs archives to support organisational/sector learning & research and business development.
To lead an outreach engagement programme to promote the organisation's historical collections and support knowledge transfer.
To develop innovative means to further capture, document and disseminate IRW knowledge.
The successful candidate must have:
Postgraduate qualification in archives management.
Experience of cataloguing archives using recognised standards. Experience of managing archive projects.
Excellent planning and organisation.
Self-motivated with experience of working with minimum supervision.
Excellent communication and networking/ engagement skills (written & oral).
Ability to research and absorb information effectively and produce reports.
Experience of digitisation / experience of digitising archival materials (paper-based and photographic).
Understands importance of maintaining strict confidentiality.
Interest in history and the work of IRW. Committed to IRWs values.
