What you need to know about the role


As the Area Technical Manager at our Skinningrove site, you'll take the lead in overseeing all technical activities within your designated area of the plant. This is a pivotal role, where you'll leverage your expertise in collaboration with manufacturing managers, engineers and shift operators to ensure process efficiency is optimised and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.


Your contribution will be key in aligning with business goals and KPIs, working alongside a multi-functional team to introduce cutting-edge technologies and innovative work practices.


You'll also be responsible for ensuring the calibration of key measurement equipment is consistently maintained, ensuring the accuracy of material measurements and releases.


Appropriate technical knowledge is crucial to the success of the team and you need to ensure that technical competence is developed whilst setting behavioural standards. You will also be involved in the preparation and delivery of technical training.


Tracking and reporting on key performance indicators and metrics will be essential and your deep understanding of relevant industry standards will guide your decision-making.


As a subject matter expert, you will foster strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, OEMs and customers, ensuring technical expertise is shared and applied effectively.


Your technical knowledge will be crucial to the success of your team and you will play a key role in the development and growth of your colleagues, ensuring knowledge transfer is seamless.


From time to time, you'll have the opportunity to step into different areas of the plant and collaborate with other technical professionals, expanding your impact across the operations.


What we need to know about you.


We are seeking a highly motivated and degree-qualified technical professional, preferably with a background in Engineering, Materials, or Science. However, we also value relevant experience, so don't hesitate to apply if you meet the qualifications through other means.


A genuine interest in or prior experience with technical activities related to manufacturing is highly desirable. In addition, familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA) systems and Continuous Improvement (CI) techniques, along with strong communication skills, will be key to your success in this role.


You should have strong IT and communication skills. Experience of Lean Six Sigma improvement techniques and application of data analysis techniques would be desirable, as would previous delivery of process improvement initiatives.


To excel in this position, you must be capable of taking ownership of your work, demonstrating initiative and staying motivated and enthusiastic about making an impact.
