The Learning Zone is seeking a passionate and experienced

Art Teacher

to deliver the

NCFE Level 1/2 Certificate in Art and Design

to SEMH secondary school students. This exciting opportunity is part of our outreach programme, specifically designed for students aged 14-16. The successful candidate will play a vital role in encouraging young learners to develop practical skills in art and design and help guide them on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery

: Teach the NCFE Level 1/2 Certificate in Art and Design, covering both mandatory and optional units.

Unit Focus

:

Mandatory Units

: Experiment With Art and Design Ideas and Techniques*: Introduce students to various art and design techniques and encourage experimentation.
Complete a Final Art and Design Project*: Guide students through the process of creating a final art and design project.

Optional Units

(choose one): Create Art and Design Work Using 2-Dimensional Techniques*: Teach techniques for creating 2D art and design work.
Create Art and Design Work Using 3-Dimensional Techniques*: Instruct on creating 3D art and design work.
Create Art and Design Work Using Mixed Media Techniques*: Explore the use of mixed media in art and design.
Create Art and Design Work Using Digital Media*: Introduce students to digital media techniques in art and design.

Software Proficiency

: Utilize industry-standard software such as

Adobe Photoshop

,

Corel Painter

, and

Autodesk SketchBook

for teaching and practical sessions.

Practical Application

: Organize studio sessions where students can apply their skills in real-world scenarios.

Assessment and Feedback

: Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain records of student progress and attendance.

Supportive Environment

: Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment tailored to the needs of SEMH students.

Collaboration

: Work collaboratively with other staff members to support students' personal development and educational growth.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Teaching Qualification

: Minimum Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.

Assessor Qualification

: (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/D33).

Experience

: Proven experience in delivering art and design courses, preferably to secondary school students.

Software Knowledge

: Proficiency in using art and design software such as

Adobe Photoshop

,

Corel Painter

, and

Autodesk SketchBook

.

Communication Skills

: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students.

SEMH Experience

: Experience working with SEMH students or within an alternative education setting is highly desirable.
Desirable Skills:

Vocational Course Delivery

: Experience in delivering vocational courses to secondary school students or within an outreach programme.

IT Integration

: Ability to use IT tools to enhance learning and assessments.

Continuous Learning

: A commitment to personal development and continuous learning in education and training.
