Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD in EYFS, KS1, or KS2.
Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons to suit individual needs and learning styles.
Support the development of communication, sensory regulation, and behaviour strategies.
Use visual timetables, social stories, and structured routines to aid learning.
Foster a calm, predictable, and inclusive classroom environment.
Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.
Build positive relationships with parents and carers to ensure consistency between home and school.
Requirements
Experience supporting children with ASD in a primary school or early years setting is essential.
Familiarity with autism-focused approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or TEACCH is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
An understanding of safeguarding, child development, and SEND best practice.
A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Early Years, or SEND-focused) is an advantage.
A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
