We are looking for an experienced Aseptic Unit Manager to lead our aseptic services at Stoke Mandeville and High Wycombe. This key leadership role involves overseeing a multidisciplinary team, enhancing service quality and safety, and ensuring all operations follow robust SOPs and best practice standards. You will also drive ongoing service development, innovation, and professional excellence across the pharmacy department.
What you'll be doing
As a Specialist Technician Aseptic Unit Manager, you will lead the safe and efficient delivery of aseptic services across the Trust. Your role will include:
Managing the unlicensed aseptic unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and supervising pharmacy staff.
Overseeing procurement, stock control, and cost management of aseptic products.
Accuracy checking oral chemotherapy and other aseptic medications.
Working with nursing teams and pharmacists to ensure timely preparation and delivery of chemotherapy and aseptic products.
Collaborating with Quality Assurance to maintain compliant and efficient service operations.
Supporting staff and student development as a Practice Supervisor and Expert Witness.
Maintaining high accuracy to minimise medication errors and ensure patient safety.
Safely handling hazardous materials, including cytotoxic and monoclonal antibodies.
Managing staff rotas and contributing to team training and development.
Dispensing controlled and investigational medicines in line with regulations.
Developing and maintaining SOPs to support safe, effective aseptic processes.
About you
To apply for this position, you must:
Be a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician (or equivalent).
Have experience in aseptic hospital pharmacy practice.
Have skills in preparing chemotherapy, CIVAS, and aseptic medicines.
Be willing to train and support learners on accredited courses.
Have evidence of ongoing CPD.
Have strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, safety standards, and legislation.
