Job Description

We are looking for aspiring copuncillors who are passionate about supporting young people with SEMH.

We have a position to start ASAP to work in a specialist school with pupils with SEMH. The role is to support the pupils 1:1 and also in small nurture groups. You will take a caring and nurturing apprach to supporting them from a pastoral and educational perspective.

You will be assisting the teacher deliver core subject lessons and also alternative lessons that will engage the pupils. You will be a positive role model to the pupils and offer a caring approach to help improve behaviour.

The ideal person for the role but be comfortable in managing challenging behaviour and be able to safeguard young people effectively. We will consider experienced TAs and also people from other industries where you may have gained experience in coaching young people and managing challenging behaviour with adults. We will consider people full time and part time for this position.

School hours 8.30 - 3.30 - The school offers great facilities and a nurturing staffing environment with great team ethics.

Experience required.

Experience working with individuals with SEMH and past trauma. To be confident and comfortable supporting young people who may demonstrate challenging behaviours To have strong communication skills and the ability to engage young people Excellent organisational skills To have a flexible approach to your work, often being required to work across different departments and student age groups, on a daily basis A flexible and calm approach, with a caring attitude

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
