Build Shop Operative or Assembly & Finishing Technician
to join our busy production team. You will work in our Build Shop assembling pre-fabricated steel balconies, balustrades and associated components, as well as supporting our Finishing Department with painting/finishing, final checks, snagging, cleaning and packing prior to dispatch.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, has good attention to detail, and is keen to learn and develop within a professional fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities
Build Shop / Assembly
Assemble steel balcony units, balustrades, Juliette balconies and stair components using drawings and build packs.
Fit pre-cut steel sections, balusters, brackets, decking frames, glass panels (where applicable) and associated fixings.
Carry out dry-builds and trial fits to ensure correct alignment and quality.
Use hand tools and power tools such as drills, grinders, circular saw, impact guns, riveters and measuring equipment.
Work closely with welders, fabricators and the design office to resolve minor build issues.
Measuring and cutting aluminium decking.
Finishing Department
Clean, prepare and finish balcony and stair components prior to dispatch.
Carry out final inspections and snagging as required.
Apply protective coatings, paint, touch-ups, labels and identification tags.
Assist with wrapping, packing, palletising and loading for transport.
General
Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the build and finishing areas.
Follow all health & safety requirements, including mandatory PPE and safe use of tools/equipment.
Work as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
Support wider site activities when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Practical hands-on experience in assembly, manufacturing, construction, or similar environments.
Ability to read basic drawings or willingness to learn.
Standard maths - working with and taking measurements.
Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Punctual and reliable.
Desirable
Experience in metalwork or balcony/stair assembly.
Valid CSCS card (not essential).
Use of overhead cranes, slings, or manual handling training.
Forklift or telehandler licence (training can be provided).

Pay rate - 14ph for standard 39.5 hours, 17.5ph for first 5 hours overtime, 21ph for any hours over this.
