Bristol Braille Technology (BBT) is an award winning, innovative organisation that has developed the Canute 360 multiline Braille reader for the blind and partially sighted community.
Our small team of dedicated individuals are now looking to welcome a number of assembly operatives to the BBT family based at our Bedminster workshop.
We are looking for people who are self-starters, who are naturally practically minded, and can work under their own steam without someone breathing down their neck every moment of the day!
About the Role:
The assembly operative will specialise in the production of the Canute 360 and be involved with various other aspects of day-to-day operations depending on skills, abilities, and ambitions. General duties will include amongst other things:
Using detailed assembly manuals to build sub-assemblies, assemblies, and final assemblies of the Canute 360 product in line with the manufacturing schedule.
Using hand tools and/or power tools as specified to complete the required tasks.
Conducting quality checks, inspection, and sign-off of completed work.
Inspecting incoming goods against drawings and/or written specifications provided and completing inspection records.
Component, assembly, and product testing using both manual and automated test equipment and the completion of testing records.
Preparing product for despatch to customers.
Adhering to company procedures at all times including general Health & Safety and current Covid-safe working requirements.
About You:
Your attitude and aptitude are far more important to us than formal qualifications. However, there are some essential criteria that all applicants should be able to demonstrate. There are also other criteria that are desirable but aren't a deal breaker...training will be provided for the right individuals.

Willingness to learn new skills and gain experience in any area of the business suited to your strengths if requested.
Dedicated, hardworking, honest, and reliable.
