The opportunity:



Aspire are looking to employ an Assessing Social Worker for our Community Support and Assessment Service. Aspire devotes itself to delivering an unprecedented, research-based service and level of support to the families and children it represents across the South of England.

The Assessing Social Worker is a hybrid role, assisting in overseeing operational stages of the Community Support and Assessment Service, whilst still undertaking some independent social work assessments for court. It is supported by dedicated senior management, administrative, business, finance and human resources teams.

The service provides support, supervision and interventions which aim to improve the quality of parenting for vulnerable families. We offer an alternative to residential placements and have the capacity to provide home based support 24 hours a day. Often referred to as a reverse residential model, our services offer families, Local Authorities and the Judiciary a positive opportunity for a different approach. We have been doing this for 10 years now, with outstanding outcomes.

Main duties and responsibilities:



To build honest and productive relationships with family members, to promote change and provide safe and consistent care for children.

To complete court standard parenting assessments and undertake direct work to improve parenting capacity.

To be persistent, compassionate, assertive and challenging with parents helping them to focus on the best interests of their child(ren).

To use an evidenced based set of tools that are known to be effective when working with families with multiple and complex needs, resistant families and families in crises.

You will have the responsibility of working alongside the senior leadership team to plan and progress the support and intervention plans of families.

Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate including childcare reviews, planning meetings, case conferences and panels.

To contribute to an 'on-call' rota, to support the team directly and indirectly. To offer supervision and contribute to all aspects of the quality assurance of our work.

Be a qualified social worker with a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience.

Experience, knowledge and direct work in residential and/or community-based support services for vulnerable families.

Proven experience in effective child protection, safeguarding procedures and producing court reports.

A strong solution focused, professional and personable approach when responding to the needs of families, commissioners, and other relevant professionals.

A strong commitment to enhance and elevate our incredible service.

Previous experience in commissioning and service development would be desirable.

Excellent verbal, written and organisational skills.

Terms and Conditions:



Permanent contract of employment (following successful completion of a 3-month probationary period) Paid annual leave (28 days inc. Bank Holidays), sick pay and pension. Annual training and professional development allowance. This is a hybrid role, with opportunities to be home and office based. Visiting families across the region will also feature in the role.
