Role purpose





To manage the Candidates Application Tracking System and support the recruitment process for parliamentary, police and crime commissioner, and mayoral roles. This role ensures an outstanding candidate experience by liaising with applicants, screening applications, and managing applicant data. Responsibilities include organising large-scale assessment centres, overseeing budget and financial requirements, coordinating assessors, and ensuring effective team collaboration. Additionally, the role involves managing outreach efforts, adhering to data protection policies, and supporting attraction and recruitment activities for key political positions.




Role responsibilities





Management of the Candidates Application Tracking System

Liaising with applicants to ensure they have an outstanding customer journey

Reporting and management of applicant data shared with internal stakeholders, ensuring this is accurately maintained

Screening candidate applications and digital submissions

Preparing and monitoring correspondence

Organisation and support of wide scale assessment centres

Training, supporting, and coordinating assessors

Ensuring effective coordination, collaboration, and communication with and between the team

Have a responsibility to follow CCHQ Data Protection and Information Governance policies and procedures

Organise activities related to attraction and recruitment of candidates for Parliamentary, Police and Crime Commissioner and Combined Authority Mayoral roles

Build and manage network of external and internal outreach champions/regional coordinators

Manage and empower external and internal stakeholders to find outstanding candidates (Staff, MPs, Members of House of Lords, Affiliated groups, Business/Community leaders with links to the Party etc.) through regular presentations, comms and events

Main contact for leads from outreach champions/stakeholders such as Regional Co-ordinators

Provide buddy service/regular follow-ups for leads

Organise outreach events for Candidates Department

Proactively headhunt for candidates using various means from desktop research to communication and cooperation with local stakeholders and dedicated staff

Proactively lead on selection work for Police and Crime Commissioner and Combined Authority Mayoral roles

Applications to the approved list

Screening. Assessment Centres (stage 1 and 2). Washups. Assessor liaison. Candidate inbox administration (assessors)

Development Committee 1 & 2 secretary

Candidates Committee secretary

Moderator support

Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by the needs of the team and the Party

Provide holiday cover for other members of the team in accordance with the holiday cover schedule

Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders


Professional experience and qualifications






Strong political knowledge, understanding and judgement

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team

Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills

Proficiency in database management and data organisation

Discretion and confidentiality

A commitment to the Conservative Party's aims and values

An ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity

Exceptional attention to detail

Enthusiastic, keen to learn and flexible in approach

Able to take ownership for fulfilling tasks and meeting deadlines

A personable and helpful telephone manner

Good IT skills including the effective use of all MS Office Software

Resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
