Join Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service (NFRS) as an Assets and Equipment Officer, a key role ensuring our operational engineering assets and equipment are safe, maintained, and fit for purpose. You will manage equipment maintenance and supply contracts, hold budget responsibility, and act as the 'Superuser' for our asset management systems. This position requires a proactive individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work autonomously while leading a small team. If you have experience in engineering asset management, risk assessment, and contract oversight, and can deliver high standards in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities



Manage and maintain NFRS operational engineering equipment and associated asset management systems. Supervise two Operational Equipment Technicians and ensure performance standards are met. Oversee equipment acquisition, maintenance, and disposal processes, ensuring compliance with safety and legislative requirements. Administer and monitor budgets (approx. 300k) and manage supplier and maintenance contracts. Produce and maintain risk assessments, equipment notes, and technical documentation for operational equipment. Analyse data from asset and financial systems to identify trends, efficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities. Support development of operational equipment strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. Undertake investigations of near misses and dangerous occurrences relating to operational equipment and vehicles.

Experience/Qualification



HND/HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience in asset/equipment management. Hold a formal Health and Safety qualification or be working towards one. Hold a driving licence (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled candidates) Proven supervisory experience and ability to lead a team effectively. Ability to create risk assessments and experience working in an engineering environment. Competent user of asset management software and MS Office. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to produce reports and manage contracts.
