60+ Traffic Management-spec 3.5t vehicles
and
over 220 Traffic and Pedestrian Signals
deployed nationwide. With continued growth across the UK, we require a highly skilled professional who can deliver a proactive, strategic, and compliant fleet and asset maintenance function.
This role is central to ensuring operational readiness, legal compliance, and maximum asset uptime across the business. You will work closely with Operations, Compliance, and our national supplier network to ensure all vehicles and assets are safe, roadworthy, and available when needed.

all duties must be performed from our Scunthorpe Head Office
, with daily collaboration across Operations, Compliance, and the Asset Support Team.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance (60+ Vehicles and Growing)
Oversee
end-to-end maintenance management
across the UK vehicle fleet, ensuring all servicing, MOTs, LOLER inspections, and repairs are completed on schedule.
Manage relationships with our nationwide network of approved suppliers, ensuring strong service delivery, quality standards, and competitive cost control.
Implement and manage a robust fleet maintenance system including planned maintenance schedules, compliance reporting, and downtime tracking.
Ensure all vehicle defects are investigated, escalated, and rectified immediately with minimal operational disruption.
Introduce new ideas, processes, and technology to continually improve department efficiency and compliance.
Asset Management (220+ Traffic & Pedestrian Signals and Growing)
Maintain full oversight of our traffic and pedestrian signal fleet, ensuring any faults or damages are resolved urgently.
Oversee workshop repairs, refurbishment cycles, and stock rotation to ensure asset availability and turnaround efficiency.
Analyse recurring issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions and preventative maintenance processes.
Compliance and Accreditation
Work closely with our Compliance Team to support the business through
FORS accreditation
(Bronze, Silver, and onward progression).
Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, ensuring full adherence to relevant legislation, TM industry standards, and internal policies.
Ensure all vehicles meet the required regulatory frameworks, including LOLER, PUWER, DVSA requirements, MOT cycles, and roadworthiness standards.
Operational Support
Act as the main point of contact for Operations regarding supplier bookings, emergency repairs, field-based issues, and maintenance-related decision-making.
Provide guidance to operational teams on vehicle safety, defect reporting, and correct asset handling procedures.
Leadership
Lead, develop, and mentor the Maintenance & Asset Support Team.
Ensure clear processes, KPIs, and performance expectations are in place to improve service delivery and support a high-performing culture.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Technical & Professional Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience
in a dedicated
Fleet Management
or
Asset Maintenance Management
role within Traffic Management, Construction, Utilities, Plant Hire, or Transport sectors.
Proven experience managing
LOLER-regulated assets
and 3.5t commercial vehicles.
Strong understanding of
vehicle compliance regulations
, including LOLER, PUWER, DVSA requirements, MOT cycles, and roadworthiness standards.
Demonstrable experience managing
repair workshops
, external repair providers, or multi-site maintenance operations.
Experience implementing and managing a
fleet maintenance management system (FMIS)
or similar digital asset-tracking platform.
Proven track record supporting or leading businesses through
FORS accreditation
.
Strong understanding of
traffic signal equipment
, ITS assets, plant equipment, or other specialist roadside technology (desirable).
Leadership & Operational Requirements
Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
within maintenance, fleet, compliance, or engineering.
Experience managing
budgets
, contractor performance, SLAs, and supplier negotiations.
Ability to make operational decisions independently and under pressure.
Qualifications
Level 3 (or above)
qualification in Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Transport Maintenance, or a related discipline (IMI, NVQ, City & Guilds).
FORS Practitioner certification
OR equivalent demonstrable FORS implementation experience.
(Desirable)
Transport Manager CPC
, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent.
Full UK Driving Licence.
