Job description

This role promises interesting and varied work. You will make sure our assets are inspected, maintained, operated and eventually decommissioned in accordance with our plans, policies and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
Development and delivery of capital and revenue project programmes, acting as CDM Client.
Working alongside the other technical leads in the team, coordinating routine and infrequent maintenance activities.
Ensuring our assets are safe, able to operate when required, and legally compliant.
Utilising multiple delivery routes, including in-house resource and the supply chain to meet service levels.
Financial forecasting and contract management.
Ensuring asset data in the Asset Information Management System (AIMS) is a consistent and high-quality inventory of our assets that enables us to report on asset health and make informed decisions.
Development of contingency plans, asset management plans and operating procedures that specify and ensure we meet the required standard of service.
Provide work delivery, safety and environmental assurance including KPI reporting.
Work to meet our ambitious carbon reduction and sustainability targets.

The team
The Water Land and Biodiversity Strategically Important Asset Team, which sits within the Environment and Business Department in Local Operations, manages East Anglia Area's Water Resources strategically important assets, including the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer Scheme and 8 other groundwater augmentation schemes. We operate and maintain these assets which are used for water supply and environmental support purposes. Our assets are impressive, but they are ageing and come with their challenges.
Experience/skills required
We are seeking individuals with project management skills and / or detailed understanding of asset management methodologies, preferably with relevant work experience on mechanical / electrical assets.
Financial management, commercial and contract management will be second nature to you as will the ability to deliver effectively through others.
Essential skills:
Full UK driving licence - required to visit sites across East Anglia and attend meetings.
Project Management experience, acting as CDM Client.
Excellent IT skills and experience of managing, reporting and interpreting data.
First-class communication skills.
You will be skilled at managing multiple priorities.
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:
Engineering, Safety or Environmental qualification (environmental, civil, mechanical/electrical).
Membership of a professional organisation such as the APM, ICE, Institute of Asset Management or CIWEM.

You'll be based at an EA office or Kennett Pumping station in East Anglia (Newmarket, CB8 7QL), which will be agreed with the successful candidate. However, there will be some flexibility to work from home.

Programme and Project Management

Asset Systems Management
Description
An ambition for the implementation of this role is to develop our asset management planning to improve our investment plans, inform our resource requirements and adapt our maintenance approach according to service level expectations, asset condition and criticality assessments.

MEICA - New and modified assets and systems
Description
A large part of this role will be identifying, justifying and project managing refurbishments and upgrades on our mechanical, electrical and occasionally civils assets, ensuring they meet our minimum technical requirements.
Please provide a strong example of a project you have managed which demonstrates your technical skills and strengths in the areas mentioned above.
Competence 4
Focuses on Efficiency, Innovation and Quality
Description
At the Environment Agency, we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions in line with our sustainability plan, eMission 2030. The successful candidate will help to streamline our maintenance schedules as well as being responsible for managing upgrades to our assets. Description
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable meeting with landowners and external key stakeholders, managing contractors and consulting with specialists in order to achieve the best outcomes. You will need to prepare detailed yet engaging reports, present data in easy to understand formats and sensitively manage the expectations of 3rd parties.
